  Education:

B.S in Chemistry, California State University Long Beach, 2004

  Undergraduate advisor; Dr Lijuan Li.

Ph.D in Chemistry, UC Irvine, 2004-present.

  Research:

The metal complexes (Cu(II), Zn(II), Fe(III) and Ni(II)) of sulfur containing chelators such as     dithiocarbamates (DTC), thiomaltol (Htma) and dithiomaltol (Httma) have shown to induce apoptosis in melanoma and we hypothesize that these complexes undergo sulfur oxidation and sulfur extrusion as a part of their biological activity.

My project involves oxidation studies of Htma and Httma, using the kinetically inert metal salts of [Ru(bpy)2(tma)]+ and [Ru(bpy)2(ttma)]+ as well as synthesis of additional sulfur containing chelators and their metal complexes for anti melanoma testing.
