AP CREDIT: PLEASE NOTE CHANGE
Have a score of 4 or 5 on the College Board Advanced Placement
Chem Examination? You do not take the Chemistry Placement
Exam. The Chemistry Department will allow students who
have
earned Chem 1A credit via AP to enroll in SUMMER offerings of Chem 1A
and Chem 1LA at UCI in order
to fulfill professional school admission requirements. NO
CREDIT
will
be given for grades and units earned in this
course. Please
fax or bring a copy of your AP scores to the Chemistry Undergraduate
Office
once summer session starts.
- You are ineligible for enrollment in Chem 1A during
the
academic year. Students with AP credit exempting them from
Chem

quarter) or taking Chem H2A, Honors General Chemistry (Fall quarter).
- Have a score of 3 or lower? You are
required to take
the Chemistry Placement Exam before enrolling in Chem 1A.

VERIFYING
A PREREQUISITE AND ESTABLISHING
ELIGIBILITY
Can't add the
Chemistry course you need through WebReg? It may mean
the
prerequisite for that course has not been met.
Two ways to verify your prerequisite:
Fax
a copy of your transcript, summer
session
verification of enrollment, to the UCI Chemistry Department,
attn: Chemistry Undergraduate
Office.
The fax number is 949.824.8571.
OR
Leave
a photocopy of document, i.e.,
transcript,
enrollment verification, at the Chemistry Undergraduate Office in 1101
NATURAL SCIENCES 2 (NS2):
- That verifies completion of the prerequisite in order to be
placed on the eligibility list.
- Do this PRIOR TO WEBREG enrollment for the upcoming
quarter.
- The following information must be on the documentation:
- UCI ID number and name
- Course(s) you want and quarter-i.e., 51A/51LA Fall 07
- Brief explanation of the situation
- Your phone number
- We will only call you if there is a problem with your
documentation
- Access WebReg after 5:00pm that same day or when your
eligibility
opens
- Contact this office if WebReg gives you an error message,
i.e.,
prerequisite not met.
You are encouraged to view
the Frequently Asked Question document on this site which will cover
topics pertinent to your enrollment.
IMPORTANT
NOTE: MAKE SURE
YOUR UCI
ID NUMBER IS ON ANY
DOCUMENT PRESENTED TO THE CHEMISTRY UNDERGRADUATE OFFICE. Without your
ID number, your information can't be processed.
