I get these error messages when on WebReg.
There are a myriad of reasons for this problem:
- Enrolling out of course code order.
- Entering the wrong course code.
- Not enrolling in the co-requisite first.
- Not eligible for the course, among others.
If after checking what you entered and you still experience
trouble, email the Chemistry Undergraduate Office at
undergrad@chem.uci.edu.
Will I be able to use the waitlist?
The WebREG waitlist option is activated for most
Chemistry courses. Check WebSOC
CHECK WEBSOC PERIODICALLY FOR COURSE AVAILABILITY.
If I am repeating a class, what do I do? When can I register?
You are unable to access the class you wish to repeat when your
WebReg window initially opens.
You are not allowed to repeat the same class more than once in
the academic year.
Receive a grade of D/F/NR/NP? Access the course on the 1st day
of the quarter.
Receive a grade of C-? Enroll on the 3rd day of the quarter
I can't access the class I want when I initially enroll. What do I do?
If you met the prerequisite at another school, it is your
responsibility to Email, Fax, or bring an unofficial transcript
to NS2 1101 in order to clear your pre-requisite.
On your transcript, ALWAYS include your NAME, STUDENT ID #,
CLASS, QUARTER, and CONTACT # (if problems arise).
Email:
undergrad@chem.uci.edu / Fax: 949.824.8571.
Receive a grade lower than the required grade to advance to the
next course? Refer to repeating a class information above.
What if I have an AP credit?
If you have a score of 4 or 5 -You cannot enroll in Chem. 1A
during the regular academic year.
You can enroll in Summer Session Chem. 1A at UCI in order to
fulfill professional school admission requirements. No credit
will be given for grades or units earned. Choose the audit
option when you register.
You can enroll in Chem. H2A (Honors General Chem) Fall quarter
or Chem 1B in Fall or Winter Quarter.
What if I'm enrolling in Summer Session or an equivalent at another school?
Email, Fax, or bring a copy of your Summer Session enrollment
confirmation to the Chemistry Undergraduate Office in NS2 1101
in order to clear the prerequisite prior to your enrollment. A
copy of your transcript is required once the summer session
course is completed.
Email:
undergrad@chem.uci.edu / Fax: 949.824.8571.
2. Prerequisites / Eligibility / Concurrent Enrollment
Where can I find more info about Chemistry Pre-requisites?
A complete listing of quarterly course prerequisites can be
found on WebSOC. Click on the Prerequisite link next to the
course number and title, i.e., Chem 1A GENERAL CHEMISTRY
(
Prerequisites)
Courses with lecture and accompanying lab must be taken with the
same grade option.
What do I need to show for Proof of Eligibility?
A copy of your unofficial transcript is required. If work is in
progress, you must furnish an official enrollment confirmation.
At that time, you will be given conditional eligibility to
enroll. You must then follow up by presenting your final
transcript, which shows you have completed the course.
On your transcript include your NAME, STUDENT ID #, CLASS,
QUARTER, and CONTACT #.
What is Concurrent Enrollment?
Concurrent enrollment is REQUIRED for Chemistry courses. Enroll
in a Chemistry lecture, a discussion associated with that
lecture, a Chemistry laboratory (if offered with course), and a
laboratory lecture (when applicable). (Exception: unless
otherwise stated or if you have prior credit for lecture or
laboratory)
Attendance for week 1 is mandatory.
3. Lectures and Labs
What if I can't get into a lab, will I be dropped from lecture?
Yes.
You can't take the lecture without the lab, unless you have
prior credit for the lab.
Can I take lecture without lab?
No, you cannot take Lecture without Lab. This does not apply if
you have prior credit for either lecture or laboratory.
Can I take lecture and no discussion?
No, lectures and discussions are linked. Discussions are an
integral part of the course. This is your opportunity to have
those lectures and homework questions answered in more depth.
I'm a Non-Major trying to enroll in an Upper Division course.
Non-Majors restrictions will be lifted 48 hours after the last
fall quarter enrollment window opens. (There may be exceptions
to this policy. Check WebSoc.)
What if I can't get into a lab by the end of week 1?
For General Chem lab (G-Chem)-1)Make sure you attend the 1st
week's lab! Go to RH 256, the General Chemistry Stockroom. You
may attend ANY one of the G-chem lab sections in order to complete
the first lab. 2)Keep your laboratory work and give it to the TA
in the lab you ultimately enroll in. (There are NO MAKEUPS,
missed labs=zero credit). 3)Use WebReg to find and register in an
open lab section. 4)You must be enrolled in a laboratory section
before the end of the second week. 4)Students who are not
concurrently enrolled in both G-Chem lecture and the corresponding-
G-Chem laboratory will be dropped.
For Organic Chem lab (O-Chem)-1)Make sure you attend the 1st
week's lab! Go to RH 556, the Organic Chemistry Stockroom. You
may attend ANY one of the O-chem lab sections in order to complete
the first lab. 2)Keep your laboratory work and give it to the TA
in the lab you ultimately enroll in. (There are NO MAKEUPS,
missed labs=zero credit). 3)Use WebReg to find and register in an
open lab section. You must be enrolled in a laboratory section
before the end of the first week. 4)Students who are not
concurrently enrolled in both O-Chem lecture and the corresponding-
O-Chem laboratory will be dropped.
Enroll in a lab lecture that meets before your scheduled
laboratory meets.
Students who aren't concurrently enrolled will not be able to
advance to the next course without completion of all prerequisites
for that course.
I am an Engineering Major, can I take any lectures without the labs?
Each Engineering Major has a different requirement on how to
meet their Chemistry requirements. Go to the Engineering
Academic Advisors for assistance if you are uncertain about
this. If you take a lab, it is mandatory to take the
corresponding lecture, unless you already have credit for the
lecture.
Lab Fees?
A 50.00 Non-Refundable Fee is added to your
ZOTBILL @ 5PM on
Friday, at the end of the 1st week.
Note** You will be double-billed if you add a new section AND
forget to drop the old one before Friday at the end of the 1st
week. No lab fee reversals will be considered after the end of
each quarter.
